With some alarm we realise it’s 12 weeks till this adventure actually starts – we’re in the final trimester of preparation!
Hmmm, on the other hand, this has been a looonnngg pregnancy! We started with a flurry of activity (as do most pregnancies) twelve months ago, and we still have 3 months to go.
Good grief – it’s time to lock in dates with our trusty crew, and to start planning… passages, arrivals, clearing in, departures, clearing out, pickups, drop-offs, provisioning, fuelling, watering etc etc.
Emailing has started with gusto confirming, as best we can, fly in fly out dates. The only certain dates are starting and finishing with lots of flexibility in between, but given that we do have the practicalities of crew needing to confirm in/out flights, dates have be a bit flexible by a couple of days. Our crew have before or after adventures planned – if you come all this way you may as well explore somewhere else !
So far some of our crew are planning a US adventure before joining us in Tortola on Dec 2, while others are sailing first and then off to Galapagos, to see all the wildlife – or a trip home via Europe, since they can – all really important decisions if your Caribbean sailing trip is for a couple of weeks 🙂
